PhD Research: British Student Radio 2023-2026

My thesis undertakes practice-based research through life story, oral history interviews of student station manager alumni  in three broad, cultural contexts – The University of Bedfordshire (UoB, Luton), Birmingham City University BCU, Birmingham) and De Montfort University (DMU, Leicester) during 1995-2025, and explores the development of student radio at Radio LaB, Scratch Radio and Demon FM. By capturing student radio history, knowledge and cultural creation, my aim is to determine the influence on UK media history and why they are missing from British radio archives.
