Whatever it is, the way you tell your life story can make all the difference.
I have run a multi-award-winning independent production company – with a focus on oral history, audio projects and arts, culture + heritage delivery since 2018.
With over a decade’s experience in Australia and the UK, experimenting with many different speech audio formats (magazine radio, documentaries, current affairs) in community radio, Radio 2 + 4, commercial radio, podcasts and audio projects, as a producer, I have co-created hands-on environments for people to openly share their lived experiences as well as listeners and audiences to tell their stories.
My oral history work intersects three key areas of specialism for me: migration/movement, employment and community heritage. Being born to first-generation migrants and having moved repeatedly to follow either family work requirements or my own career aspirations, I am very interested in hearing how and why people have pursued their chosen or happenstance paths.
While people may initially say, my life isn’t interesting or I don’t have much to say, everybody has a story, and as a former biographer and long-form features journalist, I believe in the empowerment of life stories and the narrative identity.
I have been an oral history consultant, project manager and radio producer across numerous oral history collaborations: Communicating Connections, Tape Letters, A County Remembers, Iron to Iron Bike Ride, The Making of Black Britain and Luton Made.
It is this ethos that underpins my work and the ongoing co-delivery of successful and impactful projects: internationally, nationally, regionally and locally.
